ISSUE
The farming knowledge is becoming less and less present in big Vietnamese cities. The traceability for fresh fruits and vegetables in Vietnamese cities isn’t reliable. Because of this, people who live in cities have no way of knowing if they are buying good quality products. A solution to this problem would be for them to grow their own fresh food but they don’t know how to.
SOLUTION
Greenbot is a company whose goal is to encourage urban farming. It offers a hydroponic solution allowing to grow plants at home. It also uses technology (Internet of Things) in order to help citizens monitor and take care of their crops through a mobile app.
A POSITIVE ENGINEERING PROJECT
- Bringing back the farming knowledge into the cities
- Ensuring good quality food
- Reducing pollution due to food transportation
- Making the cities greener, thus reducing air pollution
COMMENTS
It’s a great solution to bring farming into the city and maybe the next step will be a more low-tech alternative.
